2nd Edition of the Institute for Girls and Women in National and International Security Policy

Overall objective: empowerment through knowledge and development of the next generation of girls / women, as proactive contributors to national and international security policies.
Context
The Institute for Girls and Women in National and International Security Policy is a 4-day training program. This program is inspired by the Study of the U.S. Institute for Scholars on U.S. National Security Policymaking and comes as a need to contribute through knowledge to the empowerment of girls / women and increase their commitment to a better Security policy as well as raising awareness of Albanian and regional public opinion on the importance of strengthening and supporting NATO -s.
Institute for Girls and Women in National and International Security Policy, through lectures by renowned local and foreign professors and debates to be held with high-level experts from the US Embassy, EU, NATO, Ministry of Defense, etc., provide theoretical and practical knowledge on the security policy-making process and the actors involved in shaping security policies; the nature of security threats, the role of NATO and the challenges it faces on its 70th anniversary.
Target group:
a) Graduated in Political Science, International Relations, Regional Political Studies
b) students of the second cycle of studies (master) in Political Science, International Relations, Regional Political Studies or
c) new doctoral students or researchers (doctors of sciences) in the above or similar fields.
Participants:
20 Women and girls from Albania and Kosovo
The program of the Institute includes three main modules:
1. The process of shaping security policy, the role of different actors in drafting this policy by offering different experiences (the case of the USA, EU, Albania).
2. Analysis of the national, regional and global security environment, focusing mainly on the phenomenon of migration and terrorism.
3. The role of NATO, the change of its strategic concept in 70 years since its establishment and the current challenges.
At the end of this training program they were provided with a certificate for successfully performing it in a special ceremony.
The presentations and the ceremony of handing over the certificates were organized in the premises of Hotel White Haus in Berat.
