The Saint George Days

As one of the partner of the Saint George city at project: "Democratic Engagement and Civic Participation", funded by the European Commission, in the frame of "Europa for Citizens Program", Measure Town Twinning,  our delegation of 3 members was cordially invited to attend the 25th edition of the Saint George Days, which was held on 22-24 April 2016 in the Saint George city.

During our stay we got part in the following programs:

1. Conference on 22 th April 2016  about cultural objectives in urban development.
In the name of our delegation Luiza Hoxhaj held the presentation  with topic: “The city of the future-Cultural City. Cultural Strategy for the Municipality (the case of Tirana). Challenges, ideas, advances”.

2. Exhibition of traditional costumes, where delegates of partner cities was invited to present the traditional costumes (one or two costumee), which are caracteristic to their region.
Our delegation presented in this event one traditional costume of girls of the Region of Berat, that have been offered with bujari from Ludmilla Baballeku, a singer of Vlora city, with origine from Berat city. Elaborately embroidered clothing with gold and silver thread. The exposed costumes represent the clothing of the XIX and early XX century from the region of Berat.

3. Visits in the three museums of the city as well as in the objects of cultural heritage, evidence of their cautious conservation from the citizens of the Saint George city from 1332 when is established the Saint George city.

4. Face to face meetings between representatives of 11 partners and other guests on this complex and comprehensive event delegations from different countries participating, with the aim of stabilizing the partnership in future projects.

Similar to the previous years the Saint George Days have been the various cultural events, arts and craft fair and Cultural Garden. The Program also had  include the  the concerts of national and international performes. The Saint George this year have been a great community celebration.
