Debate for the City: "Eco-City"

The intensive week of FORLED 2023, December 12-16, 2023, organized and hosted by the Center for European Policy Studies for Regional and Local Development, concluded in a wonderful way with the "Debate on the City" column, where Prof. Perpaim Kabo, philosopher, anthropologist, author and dedicated intellectual.

✅The brilliant lecture of Prof. Kabos, for two hours held the attention of the quality audience: intellectuals, professionals from various fields, students, members of the municipal council. This important event was appreciated by the Prefect of the Vlora District as well as the Chairman of the Vlora District Council.

✅Prof. Kabo addressed the topic: "The City", based on the European Urban Charter and the European Landscape Convention of the Council of Europe", where he also detailed the history of the city, including the city in Albania, the values of the city, how to live and build a city ecological, landscape protection and positive impact on the environment and the daily life of the inhabitants.

✅How to incorporate the traditional knowledge and ecological practices of local communities into the planning of an ecological city and how to encourage the participation of local actors in the planning process of an ecological city were also concerns of Professor Kabo.

✅The innovation for the followers of the discourse was the treatment of urban law as part of human freedoms and rights. This lecture found a great interest and wide understanding with those present, where there were also leaders of the local government.

✅Concluding of the discourse was with some ideas and recommendations on how to build action, to move from party citizen to citizen-citizen. This is of interest for the process of planning and development of an ecological city as well as for the process of involving residents and the community in decision-making processes and increasing awareness that the city is theirs and to encourage their active participation.
